The South East is facing a serious shortage of good quality housing at affordable prices. Meanwhile there is also a need to reclaim neglected and derelict brownfield land which is often in the form of small sites found in urban areas where there is the greatest need.

The Brownfield Land Assembly Company (BLAC) has been established by Hyde Housing Association Limited, RJ Barwick Construction Services Limited and South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) to tackle both issues by acquiring and remediating clusters of small brownfield sites for housing in the South East.
